Why Ronaldo should follow Messi into retirement , What is your opinion ?

Far from being a solution, Bollywood superstars are the problem. If you are a true fan of the Portuguese team, you may find yourself praying that Ronaldo goes to Messi.

In the end, it was all a little hollow. Yes, Portugal were  crowned champions of Europe. And of course, 10 years down the line no one will remember that they won a single match in normal time throughout the tournament. But so far, the tournament has been little more than a testament to the fact that football is completely unpredictable and the team with the most talent doesn't always win.

For Cristiano Ronaldo, it was the Holy Grail. A major international trophy in the Messi vs Ronaldo debate will certainly be the clincher. The CR7 was the projected centerpiece in the Portuguese team. While he had a slow start, the later stages of the tournament saw some flashes of performance from the three-time Ballon d'O winner. The Portuguese train emphasized this, not in implementing the locomotive type, but more like a smaller engine.

Against all odds, Portugal found themselves in the final. They were far from convincing, but they were there. Only the French hosts stood in their way. The stage was certainly set for the Portuguese prime donna. The man from Madeira would show the world that he was better than that tax-evolved "little flea".

But then Dimitri Payet decided to take a closer look at Ronaldo's knee. The grip was strong (all Paymet plays for a team nicknamed "The Hammers") and Ronaldo's left knee was injured. Their faces mostly talked (like it usually does) and tears rolled down their eyes (like they usually do). He had to be pulled apart and replaced by Ricardo Querésma, who was more likely to make headlines for his hairstyle than his sportsmanship. It seemed game over for Portugal.

Leaving the Portuguese has made a habit of grinding the results. Eder pulled a goal out of nowhere and Portugal pulled out 1-0 winners with Ronaldo somehow stealing the show with his touchline dramatics even though he actually only played for 10 minutes. Even Messi can't put the scales on it until he comes out of retirement. And it may look like Ronaldo has finally won it all.

But if you're really a fan of Portugal, you might find yourself praying that he decides to follow up on Messi's retirement. For they might be lucky this time. And they will have to pay the price of being dependent on their captain sooner or later.

Argentina and Portugal did not get their golden generation. But they didn't get their golden boys. Players who can turn any match on its head, who can turn any side into world-beaters who don't really need the help of their teammates to score goals. Players who could win.

Messi and Ronaldo are the two most talented football players in the world right now. They have big salary packages, big houses, big cars (and in Messi's case, big tax problems). At the club level, they have done everything there is to win.

With the national team, even though Ronaldo may have tipped the scales in his favor by winning an international tournament in the end, his Portuguese team's performances have given Messi lovers plenty of ammunition to debate.  While Ronaldo fans will smoke and point to the Euro winner's medals, for a lot of neutrals, the competition is too close to call.  They are two colossus and one feels that more than one of them is being successful, it will take one of them to fail to actually decide the rivalry.

Yet, in the midst of their epic battle, not many realize that they are actually hurting their national teams.  While coaches and tournaments keep changing, as long as Messi and Ronaldo are playing, there can only be one game plan.  Get them the ball and watch the magic happen.

But it doesn't really work smoothly.  Let's see what they have done in terms of Quantifiable International success.  Ronaldo could add a Euro win to his appearance at the 2004 Euro final where he lost to Greece.  Messi has seen a lot of heartbreak as he has gone to four major finals but lost them all.  Compared to his club records, his international records are quite clearly an embarrassment.

And that which makes a thought dangerous, even a blasphemous thought; Would their national teams be better off without them?

Messi and Ronaldo are exceptionally talented. These two will run on any team in the world and improve it in a big way. And logically, the coach of his national team makes him the focal point of his team's attacks.
